Who Watches the Watchmen.
I do. Not all the time obviously but every now and again I stick on the DVD and settle back for a couple of hours of entertainment..
I prefer the book to the movie, but its most famous line defiantly points to the current situation we are in as a nation.
Movie ending is better. There, I said it.
I wonder if that includes legal fees?
A great bunch of lads
Are we surprised? It may be “disproportionate” but is the 59 million also proportionate? Not in my book
Sure, what’s 59 million yo-yos between friends? Like, look at those banking guys, and don’t even like us.
Anyone who has lost a friend or loved-one due to the actions of a drunk driver will have very little sympathy with Ms. Daly. She was drink driving and, just because she didn’t provide a blood and urine test in a timely manner does not mean that she was not drink driving. She had a hot whiskey immediately before getting into a car and even made an turn on a corner where it is clearly illegal.
Her campaign against the Gardai looks spiteful and she should pass it on to one of her colleagues.

(ha!)
Nonsense.
Rubbish.
wasn’t over the limit but handcuffed and then details of her arrest leaked to the press. just for balance, like.
Filth
It’s not about sympathy for Ms.Daly.
Read the letter again.
you’re talking through your hole
You are a troll or a shill or an idiot.
Justify paragraphs please!
It’s FG. No need to justify anything.
Ha!
Agree totally.
Its nuts. This we know. With a reply like that from the Minister, God/Allah/Whoever/Whatever HELP US!
59 mil over 14 years = 4.2 mil a year. Giving that it’s not indicated that these are guilty cases we could reasonably assume that a portion of that was spent on legal fees in cases won by the guards. For example, how much did the Toscan du Plantier cost the state and was that included? Probably over 4 million.
You sound like a builder that I asked to quote for a job. He didn’t get it though.
59 million!!? What are we building?
As Tom Waits says “what’s he building in there?”
1999 to 2013 inclusive is 15 years by my extremely complicated calculations.
You’re a nob.
Would that be with or without a ‘K’?
Fair enough, can only lead to an inquiry and report that inevitably comes to nothing
“disproportionate commitment of resources” is a fairly stock phrase when you ask an awkward question about Garda statistics.
It translates fairly well to “suffering cats but PULSE is a useless piece of bleep software that couldn’t find its posterior with both hands, a map and a pack of dogs”.
Problem is, that doesn’t stop people drafting laws based on data they do get out of it even when asking to check the data first will trigger the phrase “disproportionate commitment of resources”…
I say parking tickets? you’re crazy! I don’t… He says well, they have some outstanding warrants left on you, and they want to just solve them you know, whatever it’ll be. So they take me in on a chain to Long Beach. And now they lock me up in the cell behind the courtroom in Long Beach, while I’m awaiting to be heard on my traffic offences! parking tickets! And I panicked, I’m thinking, oh my god, man, while I’m here, you know, holding me, actually what’s to stop them? I mean what’s really to stop them? oh, I assumed that maybe some day my mother would realize that I should have gotten out! But ah, she was nice, she would have known but still, what’s to stop them? And I’m panicking… And finally they call me…Sorry, Oh my god…I am… Scared.
Cool story, bro.
Any idea where that sample came from originally?
A part of me wants to acquire the Pulse data and do a bit of mining on it to see what ridiculous statistics you could spit out. Of course, sh1t-in = sh1t-out – but it would be interesting to actually see the level of incompetence with data-entry that exists in our national police force.
The reason they continue to use an outdated system like pulse is so they can continue to not provide embarrassing information at times like this. Just another example of lack of accountability in Ireland inc.
Clare Daly says Frances Fitzgerald was not guarding the guards. Well she wasn’t the Minister for Justice between 1999 and 2013, the period to which the info relates.
She is the minister now and she needs to hold the accountable.
I prefer to call the Gardai when i need them than Clare and Mickah – Two Dodo’s
If I was a party person feeling threatened by the growth in vote intentions for independents I would probably be doing what you are doing.
I’m with Tonyc – let them run amok, be entirely unaccountable, cost us a fortune in payouts, do favours for their mates as long as they’ll stamp me passport.
Tony, they’re there when we call them because we PAY THEM – not because we let them get away with whatever they want to do. It’s not a quid pro quo.
TL;DR
“Sup Clare.
(Clearly) Too much like hard work, (clearly) could not be less f****d. (Clearly) Kind regards etc.
(Clearly) Francie xxx”
Clearly.
59 Million payed out for claims made against those who are responsible
for upholding law and order with no details, and a reply saying that it is too
burdensome to establish the facts further…..says it all about the credbility
of the Dept of Justice and they want the support of the citizens
