You’ll be glad of it when it’s in… quit yer moanin’

You mean when they don’t re-open to traffic? No way I can see them allowing a Luas, pedestrians and the same volume of traffic in that area ever again. They’ll pedestrianize it and suddenly the rents will rocket in the locality. No forward or joined up thinking in anything we ever do in this country.

Chill out, it’ll be grand
Tidy Dave
Yay to less traffic!
manolo
… and to a chance for peaceful cycling!

If you can afford to live in the area of college green right now, you’re probably pretty well off.
ploika
I’m guessing he was referring to commercial rents.
That said, I’d still welcome a College Green with less traffic.
St. John Smythe
What the relationship between traffic calming and rocketing rents? Is it because the basic stand of life on those streets will improve (boo hiss)? Or is there another factor?
doncolleone
oh, yah, better quality of life because of less car traffic, who in their right mind would want that. Taxi driver or car park owner?

Not really clampers, once again DCC vote to benefit the east link operators! Pushes traffic towards the east link or up to wood quay, lower bridge street into roads that are much more residential and less capable of dealing with that type of traffic volume.

You’ll be able to go to Cabra from the southside by Luas, and vice-versa, sure that’s worth it. See how the other half lives.

Is 46a not good enough for you?!

bumpy rides irritate my piles.

To hell with the inconvenience, LUAS / public transport over cars every time.
15 cents
theyve been doin that diversion for ages .. theyve also being using it to collar people for tax, nct etc. as they’re diverting them, so be careful.

Or, y’know, have tax and NCT as you are legally obliged to have.

15 cents doesn’t pay his water charge either.
But I’m sure he thinks Denis O’Brien is a criminal for not paying his taxes.

Build an underground road network to alleviate the problem.
meadowlark
Wouldn’t that be great?
But I can’t stop thinking of the chaos London was in because of the strikes. Could you imagine what Dublin would be like in that situation? Enough to put the frighteners on you!
meadowlark
Ah I misread your comment. I just read it as underground, like the tube or something

All Dublin transport routes are radial.
Even one circular route would mean you don’t have to go all the way into town and all the way back out to get one mile down the road.

Srsly but… There was loads of room to run a Luas with park-and ride at a couple of points. We already have all of the buses in there and two main train-stations.

Badly phrased sorry- a Luas ring-system to connect with bus-routes.
Mr. T.
Might some of lard asses out of their cars and get them walking into town or at least to their local bus stop.
Mr. T.
They’ve been pulling cars after doing the U-Turn there. If you do the U-Turn, you don’t enter the car-free zone so you’re not liable for a ticket. I wonder how drivers got tickets.
The Old Boy
You can’t do a u-turn if there is a solid white line. I can’t remember off hand but I think there is one there.
