let me guess, the gardai aren’t allowing her to leave as a protest against political intrusion into their work?

I’m not saying I’m shallow but if Joan lifted that little fella up and threw him over that log at the top of the photo, Highland Games style, I’d probably vote for her.

    1. scottser

is that you in the photo? whispering into joan’s ear ‘ go on joan, i bet you can’t throw him to your wan holding up the ipad..’
i must say, that’s a pretty cool disco medallion you got going there, bertie.

First a food bank then a boat trip now the opening of a Fas nua office. Joan is desperate for a day out of Leinster House.

One thing I learned from her boat excursion, the old legend that witches can’t drown is true.

Possibly but he’s on the money with this one. That smartphone comment sealed it for me. She really thinks of herself as a queen who is helping the little people. She has contempt for the the common man. Joan Burton can go fupp herself.

You mean keeping democratically elected people’s representatives safe from a mob?

      Yes, of course they are.

      1. Zuppy International

The people don’t want her anymore. They couldn’t be any more clear about this. Yet she refuses to vacate her office. This is how the scam that is ‘democracy’ covers the actions of a tyrannical yet incompetent regime of simple minded dictators who serve the needs of criminal bankers.

Without her private policy enforcers she’s nothing.

        1. ahjayzis

You could get a LOT more clear, actually – we call them elections. When you, like, clarify who has support and who doesn’t.

I can’t stand her or Labours conduct in government – but I’d still choose them over the likes of you, at the very least she’s a democrat – you’re clearly not.

To re-iterate, she’ll be gone when at least 76% of her electorate do not vote for her.

          1. Zuppy International

She lied to get into office therefore she has no mandate, no standing and no honour.

A system of recall elections would have evicted her a long time ago. Without the ability to terminate the career of the disingenuous thieves, lairs and traitors within “government” there is no democracy.

When these same liars, traitors and thieves can enact policy in favour of their own interests and ignore the needs and rights of the people they serve we have only dictatorship.

On burton defo losing her seat….hhmmm not too sure about that. Dublin west is a 4 seater and the current thinking out there is that she’s running 5th behind leo, coppinger and…sorry I can’t remember the other fella. Leo’s votes won’t transfer to coppinger …that’s a given. Burton will pick up a lot of transfers and she might squeeze into 4th. Still a lot to play for.

Might see her yet in the next cabinet.

          3. Steve

Sorry it’s Donnelly and FFs chambers…FF picking up a seat in dublin….dunno. Burton’s in With a shout

      2. realPolithicks

So citizens protesting against their elected representatives are now a “mob”? You right wingers really don’t like democracy do you.

        1. Kieran NYC

You’re deliberately forgetting the horrific abuse she got the last time. Groups screaming ‘c**t’ in someone’s face is a mob, even while shouting ‘peaceful protest’.

You Shinners would excuse any kind of thuggish behaviour.

          1. realPolithicks

Actually you’re deliberately exaggerating what happened the last time. I believe in peoples rights, which is something you wingnuts can’t stand.

        2. Andy

What has democracy got to do with people hurling curse words and abuse at gardai and politicians?
Too inarticulate to stand for election themselves so all they can do is make as loud a noise as possible using filthy language.
Is that their contribution to the world?
But sure who wouldn’t be proud of shouting:
          “F**king shame on yis”
          “F**king scum”
          “F**king state of yis”
“Get your f**king hands off me”
          “F**king bastards”
          “Ya bollo*”
          “Labour scum”

and plenty plenty more all within the space of 3 mins 30 seconds.
A proud moment for those people and their families.

          1. Zuppy International

As opposed to sitting quietly while the Blueshirt/Labour nexus facilitate the rape of our resources and culture by the criminal banksters? What should we do instead,? Applaud the continual enrichment of a select few while ordinary people are impoverished without reason?

  4. Murtles

Plot twist, it’s the guards that are protesting and the poor lad at the gate is trying to get them to leave quietly.

  5. topsy

I see FG TD Farrell in the PIC. One of the 1st things he did when elected was to employ his wife.

    1. Cluster

The ’employ his wife’ is the one ‘scandal’ I couldn’t give a flying fupp about.

If we decide that an assistant/secretary is useful for a TD & that we will pay for this (evidently we have), then why does it matter who they employ in the role?

      1. Rob_G

Probably that idea that if public money is being used to pay someone’s wages, then the best person should be found for the job, rather than someone who happens to have some relation to a public official.

        1. Cluster

The job is as personal secretary – who better to decide who best fits that role than the person for whom the personal secretary will exclusively work?

I know quite a few people in the private sector who made a similar decision for their business.

It’s not the same as other public sector roles which clearly have a function other than ‘make individual TD’s life run more smoothly’

          1. Rob_G

I know; and maybe she is the best person for the job, who knows? However, it leaves Farrell (and by extension, FG) open to accusations of cronyism that could easily have been avoided.

  6. Andy

What a bunch of absolute scum bags.
It’s embarrassing watching people hurl abuse at gardai and politicians.
One woman shouting at a Ban Garda “Who do you think you are looking at me?” Bloody hell!
I expect its either (i) the same crowd who attend all these protests or (ii) its the same people who shout the abuse the loudest.

  7. Paddy

She said yesterday that she was looking forward to meeting people. With locked gates and surrounded by Gardai. Oh…the people she will meet are other ministers and chosen ones.

        1. Cluster

They were ‘self-financing’ by imposing costs on the rest of the people of Ireland.

Organised crime in Ireland (armed robbery, racketeering, diesel washing, drugs) was non-existent on until the IRA came along with weapons, know-how and a need for financing.

  8. Bonkers

If Joan wants to canvas the doors in this election she is going to need help from the Army. The count centre will need to be on lockdown at this rate

  9. Frilly Keane

Why does she ú(king brother tho

    Seriously

    Why doesn’t she retire?

    She has her 6figures
    Benckmarked
    For Life
    Anyway

    So why?

And don’t say ’cause she still wants to work
Because what’s she’s upta lately isn’t work that’s of any meaningful contribution

And consider also thay power hungry, status hunting narcissistics tend to be a bit prettier and more listenable

    So wtf
    Has she no friends
    Or wha
