I don’t think it is a regular run-of-the-mill land fill. As I remembered it had been filled with thousands of tonnes of highly toxic waste for years. Maybe that explains the E61M price tag. Where will the toxic waste be disposed off, China, India? Yes parks are great, more of them please, but at E61M? I dunno, I would have though that the government would prioritize paying off of the national debt of E2000 M and keeping spending on parks for a better day. Oh, and the E61m and mid 2018?? Not a chance, more like E200M and late 2020. Then later on there will be a rumor of impropriety in the whole process and there will be a E100m independent inquiry where we will learn of some Councillor or TD who wanted “loads of money” and the “actual” cost of the park was E300m or that the toxic waste was mostly covered over or that some TD’s nephew got the contract. Or all of the above.

So you want the toxic waste just left there, damaging the environment?
Smart.

@Kieran NYC – I never said that.

Instead of wasting taxpayer’s money it could be developed by Pubic Private Partnership!
Truth in the News
How many millimeters is it above sea level, or is some of it subject to flooding
allready…..better to do up Spike Island nearby, good few buildings need a roof
there and it wont get flooded.

Never mind the typo, what a crass piece of pre election crap. If it is true why not spend 60m on hospital beds, flood protection, special needs assistants, etc.?
They did a great job in Waterford, with the Kilbarry (dump) Landfill site … http://www.waterfordnaturepark.ie/about/remediation.htm
Whoosh!
It’s a splendid idea and it works perfectly when properly done. Prissy idiots need not apply.
Some people have missed the joke here…
damn, just copped it now …
Explain it too me. I don’t have time
find the typo in the headline.
Ah…
Another mea culpa from me, I’m afraid. My poor tired eyes.
National war memorial gardens in island bridge is built on a landfill site. Twas good enough for the Queen to visit..
It was going to be a Public park but they had a close shave.
Boom!
Don’t get crabby about it…
could get hairy
George Michael approves of this park
