The first time you stepped on a Skateboard (10 days ago), was the last time I stepped on a Skateboard. I’m still lying in hospital 10 days later.

In college, I went about 5 yards but avoided busting my hand unlike one of the lads I was with.

my very first board was from my mam, as a christmas present, it had bumpers on the nose and tail and a bart simpson graphic. i went down the only road in the estate that was in someway smooth. after getting the hang of it i grabbed onto the back of the milk truck when it was driving thru but it wasnt as easy as it looked in back to the future so i went flyin off the board pretty soon, i was ok but my board went under the wheel and destroyed. all in the first day. we weren’t rich so i couldnt get a new one but i had the tastefor it now, so i tried making one, think my mam felt so sorry for me and my lame creation that she then got me another as a birthday pressie in advance. i still ride goofy style coz i was self taught. no youtube or vids back in the 80s, just magazines.

Disgraceful that the sake park in Drumcondra was allowed to close, then again bertie had made promises…

      Absolutely.
All the more reason we needed to form the ISA – most of us skated at Ramp & Rail before it closed. The fact that there isnt any indoor skatepark in the Dublin are since SofD closed is a disgrace.

First time I stepped on a skateboard I was about ten,
and literally all I did was step on it because i was PETRIFIED!
But then picked it up and skated all around my estate for days on end.
Stopped doing it when I was a teen as got taken the piss out of and have now said “Sure, feck it” and at nearly 25 have taken it up again, I’m pure shite but it’s great fun! :)

The first time I stepped on a skateboard was sometime in 1984/5 on a my friend’s sister or brothers blue Coyote 2. 2 years later I had my own set-up and am still at it 30 years later!

The first time I stepped on a skateboard I went out and bought all the gear, started smoking and ignoring my family when I came in late at night.

i made my own board from roller skates, wood and tin flashing back in ’76, when skateboarding WAS a crime, under the regressive by-laws of Dun Laoghaire Borough in any case. Despite this I had soon mastered kick flips and could “give an ollie” to any passing shaper who asked. Very disappointed when the scene sold out in the 80s and no amount of Powell Perelta endorsements would make me change my mind. My image was used (without permission) for the skateboarding section of the Amstrad CPC port of California Games. The proceeds of a subsequent lawsuit allowed me to build my own abandoned swimming pool in which to hone my art. A series of ground breaking injuries have curtailed my career most recently, but I do endorse this new ISA movement, if only because I am all out of clean tshirts (Large).

The first time I stepped on a board, I didn’t. I was playing at the back of my parents house with my sisters when I was 7 or 8, and I noticed a board (fish shape) in a neighbours backgarden. 10 minutes later it was in my dirty little hands, then under my knees as I pushed all the way home with it. 15+ years later I’m still skateboarding. Thanks and apologies anon neighbour!

The first time I stepped on a skateboard was in 1986, when a young ne’er do well had left one idle on the pavement as I dashed into a shop for some snout.

Picking myself off the ground and noticing a tear in my trousers, I proceeded to beat the young rascal about the head with the thing. Needless to say, he thanked me some years later for putting him back on the straight and narrow.

It was in school, one of the lads had a board, I was more interested in the skate clothing than actual physical activity. Feet firmly planted on board, felt completely natural, gripped wall tightly and dragged myself along. Decided I was built for comfort not speed so kept feet on ground ever since.

The first time I stepped on a board was about 2 years ago, it was at my old school on a Saturday I think. It was my mate’s board and he told me how to ollie even though I couldn’t ride xD anyway I attempted this ollie and fell backwards, now 8 months ago I started skating.

The first time I stepped on a board was about 17/18 years ago. A mate of mine came to my house to show off his new toy!
I went outside and I asked for a go. I placed the board on the ground and put my right foot forward and the thing went flying. My left foot stayed planted and my right foot went with the board down the street.
Landed on my right hand cutting it up and my face bit the floor and ended up chipping my front tooth and to this day, still the worst injury I ever got. This accident started the best eight years of my life.
