Free money! Sort Of. If you have a Tax Saver Leap (Dublin Bus) card you can get a €40 refund due to the recent drivers strike from their office on O’Connell St.
RUN!

Yup, they’ve been doing the refunds since the start of October BUT just like the paper change tickets issued on the bus, you have to go to the office on O’Connell St to reclaim it which does not help many people who have no reason at all to be in the City – like a good many of urban bus users I imagine.
I don’t see why Dublin Bus don’t tie in with the Post Office to do refunds on tickets and the like. The Post Offices have the infrastructure, they are easily accessible by most people (I don’t work for an Post, it just seems like an obvious one)
Because they’re happier to keep the cash.
+1.
And to note that the LUAS team sent me a check in the post when I contacted them about this after their strike, for a similar amount (in case you missed it at the time).
Dublin Bus, where the year is always 1953 . . .
it’s a pain to get there, can you ask someone to do it for you?
I could get my concierge to ask a homeless person and we’ll split the winnings
what’s O’Connell st!
some place in Limerick.
Concierge? That’s pov, that is. My houseboy runs all my errands.
Yup! Got my €40 at lunchtime. Very happy I work nearby. :)
Bloody annoying if you don’t mind you.
Pain in the ass having to go in! When Luas went on strike, the refund process was all done by email and a cheque was issued by post. Whole thing only took a couple of days too.
im not following this at all. whats the refund for? expenses incurred while taking alternative travel on day of strike. do you have to give up your leap card to get?
It’s only for people who have annual tickets, as a refund for the days they had paid for upfront but couldn’t use the service.
And monthly tickets as well. More here
