Anyone who regularly walks in Herbert Park will have met Tom Boland, “the weather man”, who has sadly died. Lovely memorial on the bench he always sat on today.

There is another memorial for him at the corner of Palmerston Road, he was well known all around D2/4/6.
Ah no. He walked down my road regularly and it would take him ages as he’d stop to say hello to everyone he passed. And remark on the weather. I had no idea he was famous for it. Rest in Peace, Tom.

Given Gerry Ryan had a a bench dedicated to him there, perhaps the same will happen for someone who deserves it.
