oh. I missed that – thanks!

          However Irish Water say:
The prohibited use will apply to the use of water drawn through a hosepipe or similar for the purpose of:
          *watering a garden
          *cleaning a private motor-vehicle using a domestic hosepipe
*cleaning a private leisure boat using a hosepipe
*filling or maintaining a domestic swimming or paddling pool (except when using hand held containers filled directly from a tap)
*filling or maintaining a domestic pond (excluding fish ponds) using a hosepipe
*filling or maintaining an ornamental fountain (with the exception of such use for commercial purposes)
*use of water for filling or replenishing an artificial pond (excluding fish ponds), lake or similar application.

This Order applies to the Greater Dublin Water Supply Area and Irish Water will examine the over 100 at risk schemes around the country for possible application of a Water Conservation Order.

technically it doesn’t mention watering a pitch :-/

How is that relevant to the water shortage?

There’s restrictions in place, there have been numerous appeals to conserve water, and its not like its some great secret. This is irresponsible, plain and simple.

This paid water falls out of the sky, specifically for their consumption. Enjoy your short supply free water while it lasts, suckers!

Sporting organisations are exempt as this only applies to domestic use.
You think Croker wouldn’t be allowed to water the turf?
Might setup my own sports club as a way to water the garden…

the curragh racecourse has been watering their track on a daily basis, all 2 miles of it.
its ok for the horsey brigade but not football?

It is quite possible that significant rain might not fall for quite some time so it is up to all of us to save water -if we don’t heed the warnings then we could be in dire trouble before long

Stop it with your medium-to-long term prognoses.
This is Ireland don’t you know?
We’re all about the short term here…
