I went to see Rent in the Olympia (I think) years ago. It’s the one and only time I’ve ever walked out on a production of anything. And I’ve seen some dross.

The South Park creators film many moons ago, the one with the marionette puppets, had a spoof of it – called it Lease. “AIDS AIDS AIDS, everybody has AIDS!” was one of their musical numbers

Thought of the exact same thing when I saw the headline.

“The gays and the straights and the whites and the spade – AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS, AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS, AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS – AIDS”

I love musicals but I detest Rent- the characters are unlikable caricatures and the songs range from boring to saccharine.
