It’s a sad, sad day for Dublin.
First we lost the beloved @HangarDublin, now we see @District8Dublin demolished.

Great headline :)
I didn’t get it at first.
But now I get it.
Nice!
:)
Government leaving the youth on the shelf.
Bye bye Tivoli. Glad I caught Toots & the Maytals there a few months back for da memories.
Is District 8 the Tivoli theatre? I remember getting the train all the way up to Dublin back in the day to watch Othello there when I was doing my leaving cert. The whole audience of teens sniggering merrily when Lodovico said “Oh bloody period”. Good times.
yeah, the Tivoli was great. ironic to see millennials getting teary eyed over a club that existed for about 6 years and replaced such a storied venue
Took my first double drop in the Tivoli. That was an experience.
the property developer must be looked after..
If you don’t say “blushirts” we don’t know what you’re sayin.
nice defending of the property developer, good serf..
Sure, that’s what I was at alright.
This is the nature of clubbing. Every generation has its venues they miss.
For me the best times were had in Switch, Metropolitan, Twisted Pepper and McGruders.
Fresh In The Chicken.
Look it up.
lots of chicken recipes.
McGruders was grim. I remember playing a halloween gig there and coming back the next day to pick up the gear and finding the same people from the night before propping up the place looking suspiciously like they hadn’t left.
This town…it’s becoming like a ghost town.
thats special.
Well now the illegal raves are back in business….
Best gig I was at in the TIVOLI was Moby in 1993…. he pulled out the guitar and started into some stonking hard metal, leaving barely six or seven on the floor flippin’ out and then the floor filled as quickly again… and the place went nuts…some feckin’ rush, and what a memory :)
I read a good interview with him recently. Maybe in The Guardian? He’s a nice ole soul.

No more ridin in the jacks at the Tivoli so
You’ve got class coming outta your ass, Junkface
It was her idea! I was of course, totally willing
Poor yokes with nowhere to go
Ah there will be another crash along before we know it, and the resulting empty and desolate spaces will be only perfect for the clubs etc
Last time I was there was t’see The Gruffallo
Ah that’s sad to see, the Tivoli was my first trip to Dublin, playing as part of the support band for The Damned, good times.
