Billboard for Allianz insurance

Ireland is the only country on the planet where children are banned from running in the yard for insurance reasons. My brothers were tormented with the policy in their school. Allianz doesn’t mention that in their ad campaign…

we are but I had a good news story last week:
we were in court due to a customer falling in our shop. I won’t go into the details but she lost and has to pay all costs. we didn’t expect this outcome and it’s a fantastic feeling. in the 3 years the case was pending our premium doubled so there was still financial suffering on our side

Ha! good enough for her. More details please. My folks were shop keepers. I hate to see this carry on.

    Well said!

At least we’re not at the point where they are in the US… below are headlines you can google….

    – ” Dad Arrested For Picking Up Kids At School By Foot ”

    – ” Parents in trouble again for letting kids walk alone ” (to/from school)

    – “‘Free range’ parents cleared in second neglect case after kids walked alone ” (to/from school)

In my school we ran in the yard. Away from nuns holding massive leather beaters bellowing out your surname liked crazed SS Kommandanten.

Ah, yes! The memories of skinned knees and grazed palms are coming back to me now…

You can bet there’s a high percentage of coddled 20 somethings today that never got a skinned knee and don’t know what a skinned knee even looks like. (It looks horrible) Their version of a skinned knee is when someone says something not nice on the facesnapsigrams.

It doesn’t say it anywhere in the link you provided that running in school yards is forbidden or banned. The only mention of “run” in the link is in this paragraph:

(iii) Accidents in Playgrounds arise mainly due to the way children move about – running, jumping etc – within the area. Equipment should be positioned so that there is no cause for pupils to run across moving equipment, thus running the risk of being struck by moving equipment.
The dangers of running across moving equipment is noted (quite sensible in my view), but that’s it. It;s not banned in any way.

Nearly threw the remote at the TV when I saw the ad for the first time. Whoever came up with that patronizing rubbish should not be allowed to work on TV. All ads are patronizing to some degree, but this took the biscuit.

Possibly not as sexy when you know the bunny was voiced by Miriam Margoyles….

American tourists now looking for the Doughnut O’Malley store in Dublin.

Didn’t we name Letterkenny RTC in recognition of this contribution? Fair enough, but an insurance company ad… come on….

Definitely the insurance companies fault and not the parents suing the school at any chance they can get nor the judges handing out massive payouts for exceptionally minor things.

    1. Clampers Outside!

In fairness to us, we are not as litigious as our continental neighbours nor the US. The issue in Ireland is the higher pay outs made, although some measure has been made to curb Ireland’s big payouts.

AIB “We’re backing brave” and now this lot “we cover courage” .. theyre financial institutions, why this language? theyre suggesting you aren’t brave or courageous if you don’t sign up to them. Bank of Ireland: “come on then, what? are you too much of a p***y to be with bank of ireland? join now, you spineless twerp”

The whole purpose of the legal system in ireland is to enrich lawyers at the expense of everyone else. Compo insurance is a most efficient way of doing this.

Are the standards at BS falling so low that this sort of thing isn’t even given the cursory check it would take to see that the OP is talking out of his hoop?
