I have of course heard of Frances Fitzgerald but whose photograph is that shown on the car ?

  2. Brother Barnabas

personally I think she’s entitled to it after what happened to her – and we all need to have a good long look in the mirror and recognise the part we played in that sordid matter

Well Frances does belong to a cohort in Irish society which has a curious sense of entitlement

As the leading journalist in the Sgt Maurice McCabe scandals (Mick Clifford) wrote:

“She [Frances Fitzgerald] had to resign because she misrepresented the extent of her knowledge about what went on in 2015, she was slow in answering legitimate questions, her briefing to the Taoiseach saw him mislead the Dáil, and her Department failed to discover important documents to the disclosures tribunal.”

She was also at the helm of the Dept of Justice for the two million breath tests falsifications, 15,000 unsound criminal convictions, juveniles not being prosecuted, financial irregularities at Templemore and in the Garda accounts in Dublin, amongst a host of other failings. She failed to get a grip on these, what use will she be in Brussels?

      1. Ian-O

In Brussels she can continue in the same vein as Brian Hayes and get herself a nice cushy CEO job with a banking lobby.

      2. George

She and her team of 5 or so people were sent emails containing information she later told the Dáil she was unaware of.

A vote for FG is a vote for an EU army.
Where will Irish men and women be deployed in this new EU army?
We get some hints from the EPP [that’s the political grouping in Europe to which FG belongs] position paper last month

“In the South, terrorist and criminal organisations are proliferating as instability is spreading largely because of failed or fragile states leading to ungoverned spaces. In the East, Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, as well as the illegal annexation of Crimea. Hybrid tactics, including cyber terrorism and information warfare and energy policy, in particular the proposed Nord Stream 2 pipeline, are not only designed to destabilise Eastern Partnership countries but also Western democracies. Tensions in the Western Balkans are rising.”

Of course, given how Simon Coveney sold our neutrality down the river when he was in Washington recently, we might find Irish men and women fighting on the streets and in the jungles of Venezuela.

A vote for FG, selling our neutrality down the river much as they’ve tried to sell everything else.

A vote for Maastricht/Nice/Lisbon is a vote to have our micro-chipped children conscripted into an EU army!

    2. Andrew

Do you think the general public care as much about neutrality as you do? I’m not so sure We are not neutral anyway.
With regard to the EU elections, Frances Fitzgerald won’t get elected. Why they picked her I have no idea. I know most of the media ,with a few exceptions, tried to say she was vindicated but she really was not and people know that

      1. GiggidyGoo

I’d think he’s more of a concerned citizen. Do you think FG are squeaky clean and shouldnt be under the microscope?

  4. ReproBertie

It really is depressing to see the calibre of candidate parties are looking to send to represent us in the EU.

    1. Cian

      Perhaps. But totally irrelevant.
The car in the picture is a Mitsubishi Outlander. Yours from only €57k.

      1. Curated by Vanessa for Frilly Keane

        Surprised at you Cian

You didn’t mention that Barry Andrews has two similarly liveried SUV types
        Although usually just parked
        Fitz place

        One’s a Lexus alright
        Dunno ‘ bout the other

I’ll check in a minute and report back

        Anyone want to crowdfund
        My Filter in Starbucks

        1. SOQ

SUV = My children being safe- the school s a walking distance but I drive – to be educated about how the eco-system going to die next week, or next month, also obesity.

I need my career and, buying new SUV’s every year… obviously.

      2. GiggidyGoo

So FG got the order wrong then? They asked for a Mitsubishi Outlandish and got the standard Outlander.

    2. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

It would have made more sense had she bought a Ford.
      #FrancesFordUblin
      Well, not “sense” exactly.

    1. Scundered

Could always roll the rear window down so it’s just a forehead and nose combo.

Now I really really want to see what that would look like.

  5. Jeffrey

“Vote number 1” – the only other time I seen this aside from in Ireland was in Columbo episodes, from the 70s. Also go away Frances, you are an embarrassment.

@Broadsheet, fix tag please? “Euiopean Elections”

  6. GiggidyGoo

    Nice Reg. No.
There used to be a haulier in Northern Ireland whose truck plates (all of them) ended with 77. His Lodge number.

    1. bisted

…wow…didn’t know that…always thought it was superstition and the 7 was a lucky number…they were outside Portadown…Dukes?
