Many of us who opposed his return to Ulster in April 2018 continue to oppose his return to a team in the UK particularly one that represents the Irish community living in London. Irish women rose up in their thousands following the trial of Jackson and his team mates for rape.

While the courts did not convict him, the undisputed evidence of rank misogyny and the details of a sexual encounter that left a young woman weeping and bleeding on the back seat of a taxi shook the whole country.

We did not believe then that Jackson and his co-accused Olding should represent our community and our country in a sport that places considerable trust in its elite players as role models.

So when a man is found guilty of rape his life is rightfully ruined,
but when he is found not guilty of rape his life is still ruined…… feminist logic!

Could the author please inform us what exactly the man needs to do before he plays professionally again?

Not engagng in behaviour that was so ugly and unpleasant it lead to a rape charge, and even though it didn’t lead to a rape conviction was still enough to shock and horrify?

The only person to witness the incident testified that what she was consensual.

But you will never accept that because it doesn’t fit into your narrative.

This nonsense is beyond belief. He is an innocent man, now let him get on with his life. People should not just be able to point a finger at someone & destroy them.

Anyone who followed that trial would have seen what a piece of trash that guy is – just because he got off in court, it doesn’t cancel out the dreadful things that he and his friends did to that woman. Innocent is not a word I would ever use to describe him.

Surely if not convicted, then not a rapist? Isn’t that the whole premise of the courts system? You might find his behaviour and texts deplorable, which I would agree, but to say he or the others involved, after no conviction are banned for life, from their life, is nonsense. Also why believe her? Did her friend not give evidence to the contrary?

    Hmm.

Best of luck to him, I suppose. I’d say he’s had a hard enough time of it getting his life back on track after the trial etc.

      And what about the victim?

He took a kicking from the women of Ireland but I doubt if they forgive or forget that easily.

      1. millie st murderlark

Does he deserve to be forgiven? I know it won’t be forgotten, and maybe he deserves that for his treatment of women, along with his mates.

He was never convicted of rape, so he is entitled to get on with his life. I think the most generous thing I can do is wish him well and let him get on with it.

He was found innocent in a court of law. Hes a talented young lad, hopefully his career gets back on track now.

-there’s no finding of ‘innocent’ WTF are you referring to ?
-if you mean hes not a convicted rapist yes that’s correct.

        adjective

        adjective: innocent

        1.

not guilty of a crime or offence

it’s pretty clear he was found innocent, you may disagree with the decision but you can’t split hairs over the justice system or dictionary

-noun more applicable to you-guileless, or naive person
          – one is not ‘found’ innocent one is innocent until proven guilty

  5. Lilly

I believed her but he was found not guilty, so let’s respect that verdict and let him get on with his life.

Well if that was the case, he wouldn’t have had to move in the first place. Brand management, in the guise of sponsorship, will gallop towards the hills flash lightening when spooked.

Let’s hope he has changed from that spanner of a solicitor, or he’ll be further away than France next time.

      Haha… ” & 0 Rape convictions”, “Top shagger.”.. etc. ..pure gold…

Great to see an elitist sport being taken down a peg or two closer to what it really is, thanks for that one shagger, if nothing else ever before or after.

Looks like his new club and/or sponsors have figured out a solution with some kind of chastity-belt system in case he loses the run of himself again… or maybe it’s only worn during a match?..

#IbelieveHer is trending again in Belfast #2 on Twitter

The court didn’t convict Paddy Jackson, he apologised for his comments on the WhatsApp group. Has he mended his ways? I don’t know but the conduct on WhatsApp by co-accused (of covering up rape, for which he was acquitted) Harrison kinda makes me think sincerity mightn’t be one of these boys’ top qualities.

“12.20pm Harrison to Complainant: “Jesus” and “I’m not sure what to say.”

1:05pm Harrison to McIlroy: “I have to pick my dog up at 2.30” and “mate the scenes last night were hilarious.””
