To be clear, I wouldn’t expect them to wear one at something like this, but would they try not to look like they just took it off, with the white shirt and dark suit intact.

More propaganda and “feelings” at RTE about the blockade, “there is a sense”, “the longer this goes on the weaker public support will get”, “moderates”. This isn’t news, it’s basically an attempt to deter protesters who still haven’t had their core grievance addressed, the price of their product.
The price of their product is decided largely by the value of the sterling (which isn’t great) as roughly 70% of beef goes to UK, demand for beef (declining), price paid by supermarkets (not a lot) but please, keep blaming the beef processors.
Why don’t they set up their own processing facilities? Because they don’t have the capital and they would lose money every year. The margin in beef processing is roughly 1% (don’t bring up Goodman who makes his money elsewhere). So there.

Why should ABP show their margin, it’s a private business? Other businesses don’t open their books to the public so I can’t see why they should. And it’s not a monopoly, there are plenty of competition but since it’s a very low margin industry, you don’t see any startups. Labour intensive, high risk, low margins and have to negotiate with farmers and supermarkets. Sounds like fun?
