If anyone is wondering what the fuss about Dr Anne McCloskey is- this is the video in question- taken down from Facebook after 120k views. Even if part of what she is saying is true, it is scary.
“I’m seeing young people — healthy, previously-fit young people who are damaged — God forbid that it’s irreparably — but I saw a girl this week who had a clot in her upper arm (teenager). In 40 years in medicine I have never ever seen an upper-arm clot in a healthy young person. But worse, she was told by her own doctor ‘oh no no, this is nothing to do with the fact that it happened the first week after your 2nd injection; no no, you must have hurt yourself at the gym’ (this girl was fit and healthy).”
This was Dr Anne McCloskey’s anti-abortion rant: “Girls in this town….I think women’s liberation has got us to a very bad place for a lot of young women who regard themselves as receptacles for semen and if they don’t want it they can get rid of it”. She did not join Aontú (a party she was subsequently asked to leave) because she liked their economic policies, now did she? She argues that comments were taken “out of context” but remains firmly opposed to abortion under any circumstances bar “live-saving intervention”. I wonder what she could possibly think about the gays…That’s a tough one.

And there is the personal attack- entirely predictable. Most people know of Anne’s political background- it is no secret.
She said she filled in four Yellow Card submissions in the one morning- is she lying? Or that most of her patients on that shift were vaccine injuries- is she lying? Someone is not telling the truth- so who is it?

Give over SOQ. My point is basically how a lot of these “independent thinkers” all think the same way about a whole range of issues yet they are the very first to crow about “Groupthink”. It’s like that singer Tom MacDonald you mentioned – you didn’t entirely give the full picture as to his other views, now did you? And that is not a “personal attack”.
Also, didn’t Anne McCloskey retire as a GP! She is 70 at least.

There are things I definitely do not agree with Anne on but I do believe that she is an honest woman whom is telling the truth.
This story has been flying around Twitter and TikTok since Sunday and has made the front page of the two main newspapers in the north today. Given its serious subject matter I thought it was worth highlighting, and Broadsheet.ie now agrees.
