Sadly I did not have my camera, but I went out for my morning constitutional shortly after sunrise. Something that was lovely to see, and I admit I am rarely enough up early enough to see it, were little cobwebs in the grass, with the dew drops scintillating in the low sun and light mist. I always thought these were magical. By the time I got back home and came out with the camera the sun had risen a bit more, and if the webs were there, the drops had vanished.
I love sunsets, but sunrises and early mornings are always wonderful times for me. When misty or even light rain the smell can be just incredible, clear and fresh.
I wish all of you a great day!
and a good day to you Sir, I also saw the mist, my cat appeared through it like an apparition, as he does every time the baby needs a feed and howled for attention, he looked quite spooky :)
I love the quiet and stillness of sunrise and early morning. The day hasn’t quite decided what it is yet and sunrise and the hour or two afterwards always appear to me as if time is assembling itself in a controlled, organic spiral. The senses are fresher and more alert to the busy organisation of flora and fauna within the hedgerows and ditches, all tentatively masked in a deceptive silence.
Well now, aren’t we all very poetic and full of the joie de vivre this morning. Makes a welcome change from the usual.
n’est pas :)
Well now indeed !
Just think Mary Poppins descending a verdant Austrian mountain slope somewhere, all a-spin and blooming with joy !
apropos of nothing, my walk takes me up through a frog breeding ground. It’s great to bring the kids up and watch the tadpoles hatch from spawn and follow their progress over the summer. There’s the inevitable massacre of the tadpoles in late summer due to the ponds and marshes drying up but you have to explain to the kids that everything from ants to spiders, mice and birds get to eat their bodies. It’s such a reassurance then when you see the survivors – loads of wee tiny frogs leaping in and out of the gorse bushes and long grass.
Such a beautiful morning this morning and with the knowledge that the sun was coming out for the day made it all the more welcome.
Walking early morning before the busyness of the day is a pleasure and when greeted by the fog resting on the grass – makes it just that little bit extra special.

A house I used live in once had an end of the garden that waterlogged during certain times, including frog development. They croaked like mad all night. It was a strangely soothing rhythmic sound, and a great burglar alarm. If they went silent, it meant something was approaching :-)
It was fun some early mornings to wake to a plethora of little hopping friends just outside the kitchen window
We’ve have frogs in a small back garden pond for years. A previous cat of ours would scoop up a frog in his mouth. The only visible clue being dangling frog’s legs!
One of us would startle the cat, frog would be released unharmed, and the whole process would repeat itself a few times a day.
