Simon Schama, James O’Brien and Fintan O’Toole – fierce bang of smugeratti off this.
All it needs is David McWilliams to make up a human centipede of cretins.

…McDreamy seems to have moved to the local vibes…mind you…doesn’t he organise it…so humble…

There’s a fierce bang of inferiority off this post
Not surprising though for a fat doley lad and his equally successful wife who has diabetes and who live in a council house.

not sure point of this festival. is it for posh dalkian attendees to talk about how cultured they are being interested in books. is it not just better to read a book instead of attending a festival about reading books.

I dunno, somehow despite your entirely iron-clad logic thousands of literary fesivals succwsfully occur all over the world all the time, it doesn’t make sense.

I believe that it is the quality of the guests that folk here take issue with. Good example is the inclusion of Robert Shrimsley and Simon Schama of FT magazine fame. Two people who are so far up their own bottoms it’s amazing we ever hear from them at all.

I’m sure some people think they are, but lots of others buy their books and will go to hear them speak. That’s a better-than-solid line-up in a nice setting.

Writers are usually very interesting with great stories, and there’s a real mixed bag there. Now the only thing, how to get to Dalkey with me bag of rotten tomatoes for the few that get me goat?

If I was John Banville I’d feel a bit miffed about a few of the other “populist” names ahead of me on the billing.

If you were John Banville those feelings of miffedness are what might give you something to rant about and get you through the whole event…

The National League of Doggerel Versefiers has been snubbed again by the so-called Literary Intelligentsia.

James O’Brien a truly repugnant, nasty individual. He consistently used his LBC show to give publicity to Carl Beech and his main promoter, Mark Watts of the now-defunct media organisation Exaro.
Beech was sent to prison for 18 years for fraud and perverting the course of justice. Over the course of several years, he had made outrageous and untrue claims about a number of public figures, including two D-Day veterans. James O’Brien gave him a platform and has never apologised for it.
