It’s hard to rationalise your argument, since if a superpower wants to project anything with an invasion like this, it’s strength, competence, military effectiveness. There are only downsides to looking weak and ineffective, the idea that they would do so deliberately is silly.
I’m not sure killing thousands and thousands of Ukrainians to get a handful of Nazis is doing much to get them on Russia’s side, even if people like you weren’t parroting the Kremlin line, that basically all Ukrainians are Nazis.

Russia has been losing “the good silver” at a rapid rate. Their most modern fighter jets and tanks (not to mention their Black Sea’s flagship most capable ship) are being destroyed, with verifiable visual records, regularly.

On day 70 something of the 3 day war they have shown themselves to be a poorly trained and appallingly badly led ragbag with compromised coms and no robust resupply lines.
