Enda posts a pointless video on YouTube this morning to highlight his meeting today with Angela Merkel.It’s almost two years since this government took office and yet our leader still hides from Vincent Browne.He can meet the German Chancellor, yet flees from unscripted interviews. A willingness to give an unscripted interview should be his Holy Grail.

It literally stinks.

The statement proved Mr Kenny enjoys direct access to Ms Merkel and holds enough sway to get her to agree to the issuing of the Sunday night statement. While it does not bring a bank debt deal tangibly closer, it shows he has influence at the highest level in Berlin — which will be hugely significant in the coming weeks and months.
