Not Fingers, Not Fish

The supermarket product that made me sad – spotted in Aldi Galway yesterday.

If you don’t like ’em, you can have a box of ‘Marine Matter’ for 45c. After that, you’re down the harbour, licking the side of a trawler.

Air Swimmers. Demo’d six months ago. Now available to buy for about $40 each.

At the time of posting, the online store had fallen over, most likely due to demand.

Not really. It’s actually an Asian Sheepshead Wrasse, or ‘Shrek Fish’.

As you can see, it fell off the ugly reef and hit every outcrop of coral on the way down.

Meet Bathypterois, the tripod fish. He stands around on the ocean floor waiting for crustaceans to bump into his fin-legs. And then he eats them.

When all the crustaceans are dead, the tripod fish will walk the earth.
