Last January top Irish windsurfer Mikey Clancy passed away tragically at the age of 22. At the time you very kindly posted this tribute. During his last months he had visited Pieta House [suicideation and self harm treatment centre]. His friends and I are putting on an auction event in The Morrison Hotel on May 23rd in his memory. It will be hosted by Marty Whelan and all proceeds will go to this extremely worthy cause.

Relax.

They’re not bad in real life.

Love/Hate’s Aoibhinn McGinnity and Peter Coonan would like you – very nicely – to register for Darkness Into Light which takes place on Saturday May 11.

Darkness Into Light, supported by Electric Ireland this year, is a fund raising walk in aid of Pieta House the suicide and self harm crisis centre and will be held in 20 locations around Ireland.

OK Peter, please stop smiling like that.

Particularly a squee nun like Sister Votesalot (above) of the north Dublin Carmelites.

Well now’s your chance.

Sez Pieta House:

Hundreds of people donning full nuns’ habits will descend on Listowel, Co. Kerry, on June 30th as the town attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as a nun, all in aid of Pieta House.

NUNDAY will kick off at 5.30pm in Frank Sheehy Park on Saturday June 30th when nun impersonators from all over Ireland will attempt to break the previous world record of 250 people dressed as a nun in the one place. This will be followed by a parade through the town and a Nun’s Beat on the Street at Listowel Town Square.

Bronagh Walsh writes:

I wanted to remind you that suicide and self-harm crisis centre Pieta House’s annual fundraiser, Darkness into Light, will take place tomorrow at 4am this Saturday morning, May 12. The event will take place in 14 locations around the country where thousands of people will gather in darkness and walk, run or jog from the darkness into the light as dawn breaks. This event is symbolic of the work that Pieta House does – they bring people from darkness back into the light.
