Bill Callahan

One of the most eagerly awaited shows of the year is undoubtedly Bill Callahan in Dublin’s Vicar Street on September 29.

The artist formerly known as Smog and later [Smog] is considered one of the finest songwriters of his generation and fans will be itching to hear songs from his new double album Shepherd In A Sheepskin Vest up close and personal.

To be in with a chance to win two tickets to the show simply tell us your favourite song by Smog or Bill Callahan and why.

Lines close at 2.30pm.

Explosions In The Sky

Last week, with a pair of tickets to see Explosions in the Sky at Vicar Street on offer, I asked YOU to name your favourite-ever gig at the Wexford Street venue.

You answered in your tens.

But there could be only one winner.

Broadsheet reader ‘Hammy’ secured the tix with this decisive entry:

My favourite gig at Vicar Street was ‘The Tallest Man On Earth [October 2015] – Not the tallest man on earth by any stretch but despite the false advertising was great live.

The tickets  were for my girlfriend, who is now my wife – our ceremony started with us walking down the aisle together with Landing Cliffs by Explosions in the Sky playing.’

Thanks all.

The votes are in.

Last week, with a pair of tickets to see Girl Band live at Vicar Street this November on offer, I asked you to name your favourite song by either an all-female band or a female-fronted band and why.

Broadsheet reader ‘Jon Boy’ wins the tix with this impressive and informative answer:

“Has to be ‘Under Your Spell’ by Desire. Desire are essentially a collaboration between the guys from the Chromatics and Canadian vocalist Megan Louise.

You’ll know the song from the movie Drive (2011).’I don’t eat. I don’t sleep. I do nothing but think of you.’

If you can get a chance to listen to their debut album ‘II’, it’s full of similarly blissed out, downbeat disco….”

Thanks all.
