As TXFM Dublin prepares to close down later this year…

Tonight’s TXFM Dublin show at 10pm is my last for the station. It’s been a great two and a half years where I’ve fallen for radio, been tasked with picking and playing songs for people at listening at home, in cars from Dublin to islands off the coast to America to Australia.

It’s been a great experience and pleasure and the TX team are a great bunch of sounders. There’s a lovely camaraderie in the station.

For my last show tonight, I’ll be playing a Best of 2016 so far, as is my show’s new music M.O.

Kelly-Anne Byrne’s last show is also tonight so tune in from 7pm – midnight for some guaranteed great tunes and a fond farewell.

Mmf.

Thanks All – TXFM has helped me to keep at least some of my listening up to date.
Have made some really good discoveries while tuning in.
    You will be missed.

Sorry to see ye leaving. TXFM was one of the few decent radio stations we have. Made all the sadder by news that Murdoch and his brand of nastiness is moving in. Best of luck to everyone.

a big loss. if only for the music. pretty soon Ireland will have Murdoch AND pro establishment bias, and with little to no other option on the airwaves I’ll be tuning out

The periphery shows where they have (had) the freedom to venture from the boring, repetitive play list were the best.
The two Richie’s on Phantom was an amazing music show. Two knowledgeable guys talking music and playing good music. No trying to be funny or any other filler nonsense

“social media, you tube and Spotify killed the radio star … ”
fair play to Rupert for investing in irish radio but surely soon FM will be as dead as him.
either a thousand flowers bloom on the internet or its Apple FM or the like for everyone.

I honestly don’t know what I’ll do without Cathal in the mornings after October. What a relief it was to have a morning DJ who actually knows his sh*t about music and doesn’t play obnoxious noises and dumb stories for “entertainment”.

I’ve been loving the music all the evening DJs have been playing this week — clearly not following much of a guidance, just playing what they love. Here’s hoping Phantom comes back on the pirate airwaves. We know you TXFM guys read the comments here — we’ll listen if you bring it back!

I will miss Cathal Funge too, great music and non-zany presenter is a rarity in morning radio
Great thing about Phantom & TX was having people who are passionate about music, like Joe, John, Kelly Anne Nialler… rather than trying to be media personalladdies like other radio stations,
Really hoping that TXFM will find another incarnation….

I admit I never really listened except for friends when they had it on (I am one of these that uses youtube to discover stuff and twitter) but when i did the music selection was good. Im a fan of electronic music, some of it was a bit too indie for me. Sorry to see it go, it had a place on the radio dial. Suffice to say we will all be sinking into a radio full of mediocre radio chatter, poormans Howard Sterns (Adrian Kennedy) and volumes of swathes of the same chart rubbish that all sounds alike…..
