The Irish Rugby World Cup squad will not be kept under “lockdown” conditions, despite Queenstown’s reputation as a party town, team brass revealed yesterday.
Captain Brian O’Driscoll praised training grounds and facilities at Queenstown’s Events Centre, calling the backdrop of The Remarkables mountain range (see above, with Paul O’Connell) “spectacular,” but left it to team manager Paul McNaughton and coach Declan Kidney to explain the team stance on “after-hours” activities.
“It’d be an awful shame to come to Queenstown and not see it – so we won’t have any lockdown,” McNaughton said.
