[INM] Chairman James Osbourne asked him to resign at a board meeting today. This comes after Mr [Paul] Connolly [who represents Denis O’Brien’s interests on the board] yesterday began a legal action against the company over a €1.9m compensation package paid to outgoing chief executive Gavin O’Reilly.

RTE has learned that directors agreed at a heated board meeting to recommend that shareholders oust Mr Connolly from the board at its AGM in June.

You may have missed last Friday’s livestreamed town hall meeting from Bray, Co Wicklow, on the fiscal compact treaty with Shane Ross and Constantin Gurdgiev and hosted by Wicklow TD Stephen Donnelly. Shane Ross, who remains ‘undecided’ on which way to vote in the referendum, used some of his time explaining what it may mean for Ireland if François Hollande wins.

Mysterious green clouds have been spotted over the Russian capital, sparking fears of a chemical disaster and even some doomsday theories. But the Emergencies Ministry is advising the public to calm down. It says the clouds are actually composed of birch pollen, not of chemicals from an allegedly burning factory in the Moscow region, as some reported.

Father Brian D’Arcy, one of Ireland’s best known priests, has been censured by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in the Vatican, according to the Tablet newspaper. Fr D’Arcy, a broadcaster and newspaper columnist, is making no comment. It is understood that his [Sunday World]  column is now run past a church censor…

They also want it renamed ‘A Huge Bit Of Religion’.
