John Gets His Medal

at

You may recall the post concerning John Cotter, the 75-year-old who ran the Dublin marathon in October but never got a medal.

Denying him the chance to prove [to his family visiting from America] that he had completed the 26 miles (and 385 yards).

Well…

I thought you might like to know how it all ended. Your commenter Hand Solo [who offered to give John his Dublin Marathon medal] did as he said, and sent me his medal. Not only did I get three emails from the DCM [Dublin City Marathon] on the day we were on Broadsheet, but my marathon medal arrived some days after that. The following day, I received another medal for coming 3rd in my category.
With all this happening my daughter and husband and our grandchildren arrived from Boston. This was one of those rare occasions, when all of our family were together, 24 of us including our 12 grandchildren,  so I was festooned with medals and awards for them all to see and, I am afraid my normal humility was left outside the door.
My thanks to Broadsheet , Hand Solo, and all your contributors for making the event such a memorable one for me and my family,
