Ok, so I’m 24, just finished my masters, and was in the Social Welfare office in “Dun Leary” today because the company that I spent all of my savings on working as an unpaid intern for summer, just recently told me that they are not in a position to hire me right now. I’m a bit disheartened with my situation at the moment but optimistic that I’ll come good soon. So there I was, in the queue for the reception, when I look up and see that right beneath the desk that the lovely Social Welfare logo of a hopeful dove being released into an open sky, has been beaten and eroded so much that it has been reduced to just the hand, begging [above].
With all of the talk in the last while of Fine Gael ruining the youth of Ireland at the moment, I don’t think their could have been a more appropriate sign, at more of an appropriate time, to sum up how I was feeling. So much so that I burst out laughing to the bemusement of the staff around me.
One ticket for the coffin ship please.
