“These are random shots in various Co Clare pubs, like McMahon’s and Daly’s Bar Ennistymon, Co Clare which is run by matchmaker Willie Daly.
Among the fishermen drinking was a Vietnam vet who has made the market town his home. A short stretch up the way were other drinkers in the few remaining bars left open in Lahinch.
Along the Main Street there was the 19th – which, like Clancy’s garage across the road, was set ablaze by the Black and Tans in 1920 – and the Atlantic Hotel and Bar next to the Shamrock Bar. The guy in the uniform was on a stag night with about 40 of his friends in Flanagan’s Bar. Other decent drinking holes dropped into included Egan’s and Vaughan’s in Liscannor. They are reckoned to be among the oldest traditional Irish pubs in the west and seemed pretty popular with visiting couples. Being only two miles from the Cliffs of Moher does help.”
