The Environmental Protection Agency report states at 42 urban areas, sewage is discharged untreated, putting Irish rivers and bathing waters at risk of pollution.
The 42 swim sites where waste water is discharged are:
In Cork: Cobh, Passage West/Monkstown, Ringaskiddy/Crosshaven/Carrigaline, Youghal, Ballycotton, Castletownbere, Castletownshend, Ringaskiddy Village, Timoleague, Whitegate/Aghada, Inchigeelagh and Kilmacsimon
In Donegal: Killybegs, Bundoran, Falcarragh, Kilcar, Moville, Ramelton, St Johnston, Burtonport and Kerrykee
In Wicklow: Arklow
In Clare: Ballyvaughan,Clarecastle, Kilkee, Kilrush, Liscannor
In Fingal: Rush
In Galway: Ahascragh, Carraroe, Kinvara, Spiddal and Roundstone
In Mayo: Belmullet, Killala
In Waterford: Ardmore, Dunmore East
