Passengers will still be able to print out their boarding passes before they arrive but no concessions will be made to those who rely on using their mobiles only to find they have run out of battery – they will be charged a £15 fee to have a pass printed out at the airport.
Ryanair was also vague about how it will warn passengers if the airport they are departing from does not offer mobile check-in services (which is the case for nearly 10 per cent of those it flies to). A spokesman said the airports will be listed on its website, and suggested that passengers might be “emailed” at some stage in the booking process. The boarding passes will be accessible offline, and a single phone can carry the boarding passes of everyone on the same booking… passengers will still be required to check in up to one week (and no less than four hours) before their scheduled departure.

If your mobile runs out of power, and you are flying to or from the UK, you won’t be allowed to bring it on the flight.
Not actually true. The list of flights where the new electronic device rules holds is vague at best. You won’t be checked in Dublin either. If you are flying from the UK you won’t be checked at security (not feasible) but might be asked to demonstrate your device powers on before you board. If you aren’t able to power on some airlines are already offering services to allow you to get your device on a later flight or on your return.
yup, but if you are planning on checking in by phone, you should make sure your phone is charged. Seems reasonable to me.
Clearly Ryanair should warn you if you cannot check in by phone for your route.
Are we trying to push more responsibility on Service provider? Maybe they should send us text reminding to charge phone before travel, another one about sun screen before going to destination with sun and umbrella if someone flies to Ireland…
What’s all the fuss? loads of other airlines including Aer Lingus have been doing this for years!
Yeah, the fact that it took so long is ridiculous. Up until now you could actually get to the gate without a printed boarding pass, just getting past the ryanair attendants at the gate was the problem.
A lovely lady at the Ryanair desk in Beauvais very kindly printed me a new boarding pass free of charge last week when I lost the one I had printed. That’s all I have to say, sorry it’s a very uneventful story.
I hope she gets fired for such a blatant breach of the company guidelines!!!!!!!1

The 15 is a penalty fair, designed to encourage you to have your sh!t together when you arrive at the airport – thus saving both other passengers and Ryanair time and money.

It’s a money grabbing exercise, designed to take money out of your pocket, and into Michael O’Leary’s. Simple as that.

Some people can’t follow basic guidelines, believe it or not.. Not everyone is on the same playing field.
If O’Leary got away with charging people to take a p*ss on his planes, it’s the equivalent of saying, the flupping eegits shoulda taken care of business before they got on the flight.

I’m in Spain. Downloaded the app. Filled out all the registration deets. Tried to check in & can’t. Keeps saying I’ve no flights to manage/check into! Bah! Reckon it’s the Internet cafe to print out boarding card.. (Which they wouldn’t allow me to before I left without paying for a pre allocated seat!)
If you didn’t initially book the flights under your new “registration deets”, just log in as “Guest” and enter the Confirmation Number etc. to check in and obtain boarding pass.
In the future when you book a flight using your new account, the details will be saved under that account.
