I’d say its an area of demolished buildings that were damaged in the Easter Rising. The GPO still looks like a burnt out shell in the picture.

Yep, looks like the rebuilt all the commercial buildings but left the GPO for a long while.
Looks like where the Gresham now stands.
Thanks, I thought it looked like where the Gresham is too, I just wondered if there had been a park there at some stage that I didn’t know about.
