They can do that now.

“My bike was stolen last night from outside my house in Ranelagh, along with two other bikes. I had it locked to the railings but they cut through the railing to get it off. It was taken between 1am and 6am from Ranelagh Road near the Luas bridge. It’s a small bike with some rusting on the handle bars and, unless it’s been cut off, there should be an orange kryptonite lock still on it. I’ve replaced the toe clip pedals with basic platform pedals. If anyone spots it for sale anywhere – like on DoneDeal or similar websites – please let me know.”
Anyone?

what’s the serial number? (or part thereof)
you know – to avoid falsely accusing someone of theft…
Early Junkie catches the worm. Id say it was stroked around 4 am. I had a bike robbed from outside my house last month. Around that time. It takes an earthquake to wake up even the most light sleeper and the smack fiends know it. That bike was sold for a ton before you poured your cornflakes. He or she is probably just now waking up from a nice zombie heroin snooze in a doorway somewhere.
People really should learn how to lock their bike properly. Whats the point of spending money on a good lock if you use it like in the picture? That being said, I hope you get it back, best of luck!
they cut the railings, not the lock. How the hell can he stop that from happening? stop moaning and show some support.
Relax Helen, I wasn’t moaning, I was making an observation, put a lid on the internet outrage. If you read my entire post you would see that I was offering support. If people were educated on how to lock their bike properly it would help a lot. Locking it in the manner that is shown in the photo means that once the railing is cut the thief can simply ride away with the lock still attached to the bike. Locking a bike through the back of the frame and rear wheel will mean that even if the railing its attached to is cut, then the thief will not be able to get away with the bike so easily. There are a number of youtube clips and tutorials on how to secure your bike.
he’d be doing well to cycle all three bikes off at once, wHa?!
No, you don’t seem to be able to read. They CUT THROUGH THE RAILING.
xxx
if you call that internet outrage you really have lost the plot. I’m sure that they may know now the way they locked their bike was not the best way, but It isnt the best advise, its like saying, oh i’m so sorry but I did tell you so. I did read the rest of your post, i seen you said best of luck… but the “I told you so” i’m sure doesn’t really make someone feel good about having their bike stolen. I’m sure they will have learnt from this lesson, they don’t need someone else now throwing a bit more salt on the wound.
So Mr T what do you think of the thieves?
Justified because they’re deprived?
Come on, try and throw the “cultural relativism” excuse at us.
I pity you fools.
Never lock a bike over night outside in Dublin.
I hope you find it.
is there a make to the bike? or can you find a simular picture on the internet of it and put it up?

Thanks, will keep an eye out and let u know if i see anything.
My bike was stolen a few weeks back. Ended up seeing it on adverts 4 days later but the guy wasn’t willing to set up a meet with any of the offers. Gards did nothing about it and now its been withdrawn, probably sold.
They don’t normally do that.
