How shocking, highly qualified people want to live in places where they have opportunities, rather in rural backwaters with medieval social outlooks. Welcome to the 19th century Ireland

You’d be surprised. My sister is a GP who chooses to live in a rural backwater as you say. She loves space, horses and outdoor pursuits and doesn’t like cities and crowds. She’s also pretty liberal and has no shortage of like-minded friends in her ‘medieval’ hinterland. It’s fine that you feel compelled to live within a stone’s throw of Insomnia but don’t imagine that everyone in rural Ireland is stuck in the Dark Ages.

Feel free to substitute whatever coffee outlet you consider to be the height of sophistication, this isn’t Lovin Dublin.

4 so-called newspapers and not one bit of news in them

Agree, not one bit. We need a new newspaper – as well as a new political party.

I wonder is the Ormond story linked to something else

Nama is partly to blame for the latest bubble alright, but not by demonising developers. Boo hoo. Why didn’t the Sindo investigate exactly how many properties Nama are sitting on, refusing to put on the market and artifically hiking property prices as a result. That’s the real story. Weird that it isn’t being covered.

As for the ESRI, proven to be a government mouthpiece, who would believe a word they say?

What do you mean? Proven where? I’m not arguing, I just don’t know what you’re talking about.
