Nice pointed headline there by the Galway paper.

That other story in the Irish papers is just too horrific. Not for the tabloids of course. I’m just waiting for the day when they start punning about that kind of story.

They’ll never pun that. They make their bread and butter by exploiting sentimentality, overstating the obviousness of grief.

And being as explicit and sensationalist as possible when it comes to the violent death of minors.

I agree with the Bishop of Galway.
It IS immoral for the SVP to spend €45k on the LGBT resource centre.
However, I disagree with his reasons as to WHY it is immoral:
People donate to SVP to help people on the breadline, not to develop social centres.

      Perhaps.

But the story actually has me wondering what kinda money they have at their disposal…..

      From the SVdP website:
“However over the years, the SVP has responded to social changes, provides a range of additional services depending on the prevailing need. Today, these “Special Works” include shops, resource centres, provides accommodation to vulnerable people and various holiday schemes amongst other things.”

They were left almost €8 million a few years ago, if this is how they want to spend a (very small) portion of that, then good for them.

I suspect their Bequest Account is a lot heavier than 8 mill. By at least two naughts ….

BTW I’m not criticising the expenditure.

I just don’t think trying to put a value on their cash reserves is out of place. Certainly not if they are already planning their Christmas Appeals.

I hope the Jihadi’s in the Times are not granted right to return to the democratic country that provided them with so much. In fact I would not shed a tear if every one of them were to die in the desert.

      “right to return”

Is this misappropriation of a term used to describe the Palestinian ‘right of return’ to lands taken from them just ignorant or a deliberate slur by associating it with Jihadists?

I think you are being a bit too harsh on the Jihadists in the Times and not harsh enough on the Christian anti-choice fundamenalists in the Times.
We are talking about the same Times aren’t we?
