JP writes:
“I hope you can help. I was struck by the stories of people living under Direct Provision in the Kinsale Road Asylum Centre, Co Cork you featured last week and want to organise the sending of care packages to the adults and the children at all these centres not just in Cork. Does anyone know if this is against some rule or even legal? Also is it possibly to get a list of residents and what items they especially need. Thank you.”
Anyone?

My bike just got robbed you could start with that I suppose, 200 should fix it
Excellent idea JP. ignore the moron above.
Mines the wallet with Bad Muth F****** written across the top!
This is a great idea. Even if the authorities refuse to distribute them, an avalanche of care packages would show people that we’re thinking of them. It might even embarrass someone into doing something.
Great idea. I think we should team up with the Red Cross – they now all about this sort of thing. Great idea, we cannot go around saying we know nothing about Direct Provision. Remember our own history of laundries, industrial schools and on and on. It certainly would show up our Dear Leader and his acolytes and fellow politicians.
Fair play JP, seriously, good man / woman!
“Does anyone know if this is against some rule or even legal?”
Amazing how fearful we of our own state. Worrying about something completely normal being “legal”. Our Government love it of course, keeping everyone nervous and timid.
Do it JP, it’s not illegal at all. You’re simply giving people a gift.
Spot on.
Lets send some care packages to the charities that look after homeless people in Ireland instead.
How about doing it “as well”. One thing doesn’t have to cancel out the other.
Giving a Penny for the black babies did at the same time as the Magdelenes. Look after our own homeless.
These are our own homeless, Thomas. Both the Irish ones and the Direct Provision ones.
This is thing is not that thing. I do not agree with that thing, do this thing instead is what you just said.
correlation is not causation
ah here
The Irish Refugee Council would be a good place to start for info on how to go about this. Great idea by the way.
Its not. Jesuits do it every year at Christmas

It’s a great idea JP, fair play to you for taking the initiative.
He hasn’t really taken any initiative yet. He just had an idea.
What have you done?
Great idea.
I’ll send a boxes of condoms when you have the logistics sorted.
I’ll contribute to speeding up the assessment and deportation process.
I have donated to a family in Direct Provision by contacting the Irish Refugee Council who passed the donation on. I have even received a beautiful letter of thanks from the anonymous recipient.
Brilliant -Thanks Ciara -will do the same.
send a beat box and some microphones. then they can start rapping.
u dig what i`m saying` mutherflipper?
STOP DIRECT PROVISION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we need to set up detention centers instead. Will give us more control and protection.
“yo yo yo me want me freedom”
Brian that’s really funny
i thought it was rather droll
if we had detention centers they could picket away looking for direct provision but no one would care because we wouldn’t see then as they would be locked up.
Dear Broadsheet – Maybe it’s time to start monitoring some of these comments sections, some of the drivel on here is repulsive.
Fair play JP do what you think is right and goodlick to the dzopes on here
This really is a great idea. Hope you get some support with it too.
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
JP this is Ireland. Don’t get your hopes up. Health and Safety don’t you know.
