Balls to it. 35 years since the 7th amendment and still the vote is restricted to certain 3rd level institutions.
Yup. My degree isn’t as good as one from UCD, apparently. I’d also welcome a diaspora senator, which might shut them up about not being allowed to vote in general elections even though they don’t live here.
In the case of this seat, the vote didn’t even go to them – the vacancy was on one of the panels.
Can NUI graduates, who have emigrated, vote in the Seanad elections?
I look forward to a democratic Ireland, where both houses are elected by the people.
