Refold is an adaptable, foldable portable and recycalable cardboard standing-desk created by New Zealand based designers Fraser Callaway, Oliver Ward and Matt Innes –  a simple, cheap and clever innovation currently (and understandably) overfunded on Kickstarter.

The design was shown in action last month as part of a TEDxWellington presentation.

The bigger question is who wants a 100 euro cardboard desk?
Especially since the plans will be leaked on-line in no time.

Wrong question – with Kickstarter the question is always ‘do I want to be part of this kickstarter?’ In this case you may get an easily storable cardboard desk and potentially send one to some disadvantaged people somewhere else on the planet. You decide if it’s worth it.

“Step into my office please. Yeah I use a recycalable [sic] cardboard box as my desk…so what!?”

Grand if your clients are homeless people I suppose.

So long as you are smartly dressed in a recycled toilet paper suit. I can’t see why it would make any difference.

It’s not ground-breaking, as anyone who works in the supermarket pop up display/product promo business will tell you.

I used to work with a ‘cardboard’ engineer years ago. His job was to design display units for retail outlets. He was brilliant. Had great ideas and clever ways of strengthening designs without using any adhesives. All the storage units in the office were made by him.
