Joe Travers (in orange) and Paddy Fleming (hi-vis jacket) from J.S McCarthy Limited paint the Ha’Penny bridge with a new coat of white paint today.
They say that the bridge has not had a new lick of paint since 2004.

Money well spent until some f*ckwit comes along and writes Pablo luvs Rosita
Or Deco and Tabitha.
That beggar is blocking the way. The cops should lift.
Oh sorry, this is Dublin, we’re not allowed to have a nice city.
I cannot understand people begging on the bridges in shite weather. They actually shake and tremble from the cold – eh, you’re in the windiest, wettest, most exposed location possible.
With massive amounts of foot traffic. Business 101.
+ getting sympathy for looking miserable
Perhaps a more realistic and compassionate observation would be…. That person who probably doesn’t have a home or indeed a bed to sleep in is blocking….. etc (Puts a different slant on the situation I feel, after all each of us were born the same, some have however fallen on hard times, so give the guy a break, and be glad you are not in the same dire situation).
we’re not all compassionate, some of use are pragmatic and logical, some are just condescending ass-holes with an holier than thou attitude. which one are u?
Should have just gone with “we’re not all compassionate, some of use are just condescending ass-holes with an holier than thou attitude. which one are u?”
We’ve been taking your compassionate approach and look where that’s gotten us!
Eh… no, we haven’t we’ve been cutting back on it through harsh times when there are double digit percentage increases in the numbers needing it.
Eh yeah.
I’m talking about judges not jailing those city wreckers because “ah jaysus the poor lad an all an his sick mother an his poor childer an his …”
Lock them up far away.
Oops… sorry ’bout that misinterpretation Tony :)
For a true compassionate approach, check out these two wonders:

Do I remember right that it used to be silvery?
I remember it being silver in the 90s.
I remember that. I wonder was it the undercoat and they just didn’t bother finishing the job.
White? Stupidest colour ever for a footbridge.
Still, at least its not magnolia.
Is it me, or have they put the “wet paint” barrier on the wrong side?
The ‘side’ on the right is probably already dry… and the side with the barrier is currently being painted.
First pic has Central Bank in background with man painting left…
Half-ar*ed job as usual, painting over rust and paint chipping off.
Good catch. That’s a pity. Pretty classic Ireland though.
the bridge was an off white color, in 2004 a heritage color,, the silver was from the 50s , it was a long lasting sprayed on coating, not there just painting the dirty stuff with white gloss! WTF???
White gloss must a thing now. Either that or some clueless clown in charge of whatever was in the warehouse. Stay classy.
Any one who sticks a padlock on it should be punched in the throat. There is no such thing as magic so it won’t keep you together unless the lock is attached to a chain holding you both prisoner. It’s a bridge. Move on.
Or get over it.
+ 1/2p
Will they clean the walkway too, which is covered in chewing gum?
Yes, it’s white!
‘ammerite?

Is it true that by the time Joe and Paddy finish painting it from end to end, they have to start again back at the beginning with the next coat? It wouldn’t surprise me because apparently they’re not given any special equipment and Paddy has to dangle Joe over the side by the legs to do the low bits.
The ha ‘ bridge was in all its glory when it was fully lit up . … white and green lights underneath. … they never bothered to try fix it … what a shame ..
