I tried to read Understanding Power once. It was so poorly written that it had devolved into what looked like the ramblings of a Leaving Cert student after a couple of pages.

It was like he just wrote the text once and never went back to read over it again. It was so disrespectful of his readers that I can’t take him seriously at all any more.

End the siege of Gaza and the occupation of the West Bank though.

Understanding Power is a collection of transcripts of Chomsky’s talks, _not_ written by him at all. I found it a very good introduction to his thoughts across a broad spectrum.
Perhaps it was another of his “Leaving Cert student style ramblings” you were thinking of? or maybe just something entirely different by another author on a completely different subject?
You’d have to wonder how he could be so disrespectful to such a careful reader. If only the authors had made it clear that this was a collection of talks, in the summary, introduction or even on the blurb on the back cover that this was so? Or perhaps they could have formatted the book in Question and Answer style on each page… or maybe, perhaps, they already did that…
I’m with you on the Gaza/Occupation thing though.
