Jack Leahy, in University Times, writes:

“The photography company hired by College for the graduation season has defended its decision to offer “facial slimming” editing for €30.”

“Students who have their official graduation portraits taken by Lafayette Photography have the option of requesting the service when ordering prints from the company’s website. At €30, the service is at a considerably higher price point than other similar services including teeth whitening and skin tone editing, which are available for €10.”

Seriously?

FIGHT!

In an unexpected twist, those who buy into this have their degrees revoked for being such idiots

      1. Dissident Citizen Frilly!

        Indeed he does

        Although don’t write off Mani

He’s the Meath Footballer of this gaff.

        1. Mani

I have no idea whether that’s an insult or a compliment, Frilly.

And Alfred’s comment will not be best here.

I choose to believe he means bested. I will never surrender these imaginary laurels. Never!

Ah why not. Imagine the satisfaction that would fill your heart as you gazed at your doctored prints, popped them in the frame and then carefully positioned them in a corner of the sitting room it seems your Ma had been reserving for them all along. And there beaming out is your Perfect You, ready for adulthood and the inevitable life of lies, denial and self-delusion, all in a futile effort to suppress the brutishness of our shared humanity.

In fairness €30 is quite reasonable.

      Ha!

Lots of people opt for a DIY job anyway these days. Who wants to pay to be snapped in front of an old screen in the arts block when your auld fella can take a decent few snaps in front of the campanile or the Chapel with a borrowed DSLR?

The curse of the celtic gene. Tis but a vain effort to deny such a dominant genetic strain. Learn to love and embrace rather than resort to regressive attempts to erase that which is non-recessive! There is a Gooch in all of us, lurking in the Irelander DNA.

          It gets worse Janet

          In the last 20minutes alone
I’ve been promptly, repeatedly and aggressively reminded that Cork could do with a few Gooches.

I’d nearly go back t bed

Only I have ta do it all again tonight

Grade inflation, face inflation. They go together. Hard work would be the answer to both.

Quit the half measures. Just get them to photoshop the head of someone else (more beautiful than you) on there.

That bloke who murdered those women in Singapore must’ve have availed of this service…. compare his college photos to his more recent corpulent self. Because he went to cambridge they probably invented this type of mullarkey…

I tried testifying to you yesterday about the inherent failings of your conceptualisation of the relationship between criminality and ethnicity. At least you are better at playing feminist than you are at playing social scientist.

You appear to live in a world based almost entirely on confirmation bias. Like our very own little journal.ie ruffian

          3. jungleman

I clearly stated that I agreed with you that there were social influences on the crime rate in the traveller community but this did not make me incorrect in stating that crime rates were disproportionately high in the traveller community as compared to the settled community. You tried to move the goalposts to win the argument and now you’re trying to sully my credibility by ad hominems. I’ve never left a comment on the journal. Also, I have not at any point exhibited confirmation bias. Yourself and your supporter did however imply that the absence of published statistics to support my statement indicated that crime rates were not disproportionately high in the traveller community. That is an example of confirmation bias. Then sidewinder called me a racist, just to finish me off completely!

Must be some quick filter they use. Wham bam, €30 for selecting an option from a drop down. Save as… upload.

I drank a lot of beer back then….I could have probably done with that extra in my graduation photo!
