I was going to say that’s not much difference, better than the EU average of 40% for non-EU citizens. Still, when you look at it to say 29% of your population – regardless of origin – is at risk of poverty is an incredible admission.
Yep, the recovery is happening….
Yeah, it’s basically a rounding error’s worth of difference. Still a shocking stat in itself.
Ireland, according to the OECD, currently has the 2nd highest percentage of workers (22%+) on low-paid / subsistence wages in THE WORLD …after the USA.
That’s over 22% of the work force, according to the report, are tinkering on the edge of poverty. That’s before any IW charges….
Irish water will be the cheapest in Europe. Not as good as free, sure, but still very very cheap.
Don’t count on it – the Troika are not happy. Cue double U-turn.
Although it’s important to point out that the quality of life in our poverty is quite different to, say, sub saharan African poverty. Always feel that unqualified use of the phrase is a bit intellectually dishonest.
and we don’t even get the long summers
The very tiny difference is a credit to Ireland. I would imagine that the U.S. and U.K. would have a much larger discrepancy.
