Woke up yesterday to find this early Christmas present [meter installed]. The shoddy installation attempt doesn’t bother me as much as the fact that I now have no running water as a result. Rang Irish Water and there are no know water outages in the area.

Update:

Just to clarify, that image is of an attempted installation. They couldn’t do it for some reason. Point is they made no effort whatsoever to explain the situation and left me waterless at the same time….

Some very quick water works on our road over the weekend and shoddy concreting where they were digging…reckon they’re in too much of a hurry to get out!

are they using the old square metal covers for the meters? i thought the meters involved installing the larger plastic covers.

Hey, just to clarify, that image is of an attempted installation. They couldn’t do it for some reason. Point is they made no effort what so ever to explain the situation and left me waterless at the same time.

Yes, I would guess the stop cock wasn’t opened after whatever work they did. Maybe open it and have a look.

I’d imagine that they couldn’t do it as the protesters forced them out. It’ll probably get done this afternoon.

The pavement looks damaged / cracked. Too damaged to make the cutout to install the meter actually. Same happened to me. They came back a few days later and kindly gave me a new path outside the house!

Are they just wrecking people’s front steps like this? It looks like a Christmas wreath made of dead insects fell and got flattened on the path.

We had a burst mains pipe repaired in October. They left it like that for a while apparently (I was away) and then tidied it up a week or two later, when they were sure it was fixed and no other issues transpired i.e. they didn’t have to go digging again. Perhaps the same reason here.

Still pretty feckin shoddy to leave you without water. I know what that’s like and its pretty rubbish having no water on your wedding day, which is what happened to me.

Laughed out loud at this response! What difference does that make to anything? Except that the installers were some yokes!

No laughing matter, Stretch. It’s part of the breakfast code that burglars use to communicate with each other. Eggshell means it’s easy to crack, crossing means they’re rolling in dough, an untopped bagel means there’s no locks.

        It’s very sophisticated.

Well spotted. I’m speculating now but I’d stab a guess at protestors chucking eggs at people just doing their job?!

I went by them on my way to work the other day and a group of protesters were filming them while calling them dickheads. Who needs that rubbish while at work?

Tis a better job of tarmac than IW did at the end of my drive, have been on to them since 04th November with no satisfaction. The Rathkeale Rovers would do a better quality job than IW did for me.

    Trips.
    Falls.
    Sprained ankle.
    Busted knee.
    Sues IW for poor work.

    Go for it !!
I’d normally not encourage this kinda thing, but hey, it’s IW and if ‘No Budget Limits Need Apply’ Tierney can squeeze IW for a tonne of money sure why can’t you.
