So let me guess, the point of this is what, Catholics/Churches (whoever) cant advertise? Must have been in the jacks when the memo went round.

Missed that memo as well. Broadsheet seems to have picked up a habit of posting religious, sorry I mean exclusively Christian, images or beliefs to invite ridicule from the noted theologists and philosophers that post online. How fantastic it must be to see the world in black and white, to know that other peoples beliefs are so deserving of scorn.

Eh I think the issue is that the ad looks absolutely terrible. Centra looks like a more spiritual venue than the Cathedral based on that picture. Just kitschy and horrible. If the cathedral is advertising, (and I’m not sure why it is, when it could be spending money on the poor in its parish, are they speculating to accumulate? More bums on seats, more collection money, more money for the poor parishioners and the priest’s wages, or another gold bit on the bit that holds the communion) they should go about it in a more dignified manner. If they’re advertising on a roundabout in this fashion, they should go whole hog – ‘Novenas, not nonces’, ‘You’ll go crackers for our communion’, ‘You think you’ll be in traffic for eternity, wouldn’t you rather have eternal bliss?’, and so on

I was with you there for a minute but then I looked at the picture and saw that it’s not kitch and horrible
