Diesel Price Guarantee.
Matching, if not beating, any price for diesel in Ireland.
Or do THEY?

Although the fuel card supplier “Guarantee to beat or match” diesel prices, more often than not (in my case) they don’t! Pump price 119.9 per litre The fuel card supplier is coming in at an ‘eye watering’ 131.9 per litre – I’m off to consumer affairs, don’t be lazy & do the maths…
Anyone?

Haven’t seen a discount from ESB either. Got a bill yesterday. 75 for electric and 45 for vat and levies. Sickening.
At a guess, I’d imagine suppliers of home Oil and Gas hedge fuel prices by making deals well in advance as well as by storing fuel bought at times when the price was seen to be low.
Fast forward six months later to now, when fuel prices are even lower and Oil and Gas companies now find that they’ve paid more than the market value for their product.
This combined with a first in first out accountancy principal imply they are not able to pass on the current market rate without recording a loss, causing the prices to ‘stick’ upwards.
The ironic part here is those prices are higher because the company was trying to keep prices low, unfortunately when competing against a company like Statoil who can move reserves around far more efficiently and can control to a better extent what they buy on the open market and what they take out of the ground by virtue of their size they end up being the rip off.
By the way, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that one of the home heating oil companies are advertising a promotion encouraging customers to fill their tanks now (they’re calling it a valentine’s day promotion). They basically want to empty their storage facility and fill up on the cheap stuff before it gets dear again.
ESB doesn’t use oil anymore for electricity generation. Gas prices have only dropped a little and Electric Ireland have passed on the saving to consumers already. So the cost of the leccie won’t follow the cost of petrol or diesel, it would have in the 80s.
You missed a bit. They say:
A diesel price guarantee card offers to match or beat prices …………… offered by other fuel card providers
on a weekly basis
“It is the only fuel card that offers a guarantee on your weekly diesel price – meaning we’ll refund back the difference if you buy diesel from another fuel card supplier at a cheaper price”
This is essentially a credit card just for fuel
Can you not pay cash? Cash is King.
Maybe there is something in the small print about the “Guarentee”
RideME
Cash is a bit difficult when you run and operate a fleet of vehicles which take €600+ to fill.
It would cost you €500+ with cash.
Until you lose the receipt, and hence a lot more due to the now unreclaimable VAT. Fuel card providers have businesses over a barrel with this.
Per vehicle…average coach/truck is a 100gln tank.
diesel is far more polluting than regular gas. Have you no concerns about the environment? Is it all just about the bottom line?
Miss the point much?
Wife runs a facility based on these cards, basically small one off cards for private cards rarely if ever get DCI ( that issue this card pictured) best or lowest rate.
Pick up the phone and call them they will either drop the rate or you. Can purchase your fuel at retail much cheaper
