Further to his thoughts on Bono
Melanie O’Connor writes:
On the Saturday Night Show, High Flying Birds frontman and former Oasis star Noel Gallagher will be in studio to chat to Brendan [O’Connor] and perform two songs from their new album Chasing Yesterday.
Presenter of The Voice of Ireland Kathryn Thomas will drop by to talk about the finale of Operation Transformation, her new business venture and how 2014 was her greatest but toughest year yet. Plus controversial GAA pundit Joe Brolly discusses the importance of organ donation as well as player welfare and the growing injury crisis within the GAA.

He’s such a likeable guy. Not a talentless thug at all.
Brendan O’Connor?
kathryn Thomas?
Noelie G. FTW
i’d rather slice my nipples off than watch the saturday night show.
Shall we put that to the test?
no need. last time it was on i retreated to the stereo and lamped up the volume listening to napalm death. just to counter any stray BOC vibes that might be lurking about. like.
An okay line-up of celebs peddling their wares and causes.
Where you mixing up your cough medicines and your lemsips Soundy?
It’s €8,000 per minute to advertise your new business on this poo. Or free if you’re an rte celeb.
So, Kathryn Thomas might expect €80,000 of free advertising in a 10-minute advertorial interview.
“RTE celeb”? Something very wrong there.
I found using “Montrosie” pretty much reflected my own opinion of them.
If that helps
I should’a known better than to open a free tomorrow night on a Friday.
If anyone has the stomach for it
Could we start a roll of these ChitShows
Like. So far. 2 of the 3 there are on the RTE payroll anyway
And Joe Brolly is beginning his new column in this Sunday in the Sunday Independent, where Brendan O’Connor and his wife are already employed. What’s that free advertising worth?
Cumpulsory attendance at a DOB circle jerk
Nice to see the public broadcaster work in the public interest
Do you know Frilly if these guests get a fee? Talking heads on Marion? On Newstalk?
Definately get expenses. Flights, cars, accommodation, wined and dined etc.
And maybe free wardrobe hair and make up.
Dunno about an appearance fee. If there is tis a fifty quid job.
Ok cheers. What about talking heads in radio say the “experts” who call in to George Hook’s show?
Freebie Contributors
I’d say
“The Saturday Night Show went out 31 times in 2011 and cost RTE €113,117 or €3651 per episode in appearance fees. Guests ran up a further €80,182 in travel expenses”
Sunday Times report in 2012 based on freedom of information requests to RTE
I would guess the appearance fee depends on how much the guest wants to promote their book, record, film, cause or career, but knowing the incestuousness at RTE, you couldn’t discount sweet deals.
Thank you Soundings. This is literally insane. Can someone please politely ask all protesters Who previously expressed well founded concerns with midget parasitism to direct their ire to D4?
So.
Potentially.
Kathryn Thomas could be getting more in appearance money than the man who wrote Wonderwall.
(Since she can’t get away with padded travel expenses. Like.)
Jaysus. Where did I go wrong.
Joe Brolly on to talk organ donation?
He did the same thing on the same show 15 months ago

It’s the rotating guests game, Joe. I’m pretty sure Thomas hasn’t been too long out of the interviewee’s seat either.
No, this time he’s the one looking for kidneys.
Balls maybe
Naw. He’s been cribbing non stop about the fixtures
So I’d say tia that
Or.
He’s announcing his political dodah
‘Running with the Shinners in the next GE
Kathryn Thomas was extremely rude to me in a toilet once. I Never liked her since.
To be fair you were in her house.*
*Second time I’ve rolled out the ‘TBF’ today. I’m not ashamed.
