It’s quiet.
Too quiet.
The eviction court order last night (centre) and this morning (above) on the front gate of Gorse Hill, Killiney, Co Dublin this morning.
The O’Donnell family has reportedly been told to vacate the property by 4pm today.
More as we get it.

ummm i knew this last night ?
Sean Fitzpatrick/Quinn got to keep there mansions I feel the o donned are being unfairly scapegoated
Did they declare they were resident and working in the UK though? I mean protection of the family home is all well and good, but if it’s NOT your primary residence…?
The O’ Donnell’s did try to declare bankruptcy in the UK but it was declined, apparently. It’ll probably be covered on the Vincent Brown show tonight, he and a crew from TV3 have been there all morning, trying to get in to the house to get an interview with them.
Absolute nonsense. Just because one person gets away with something does not mean we allow every one to. These people are incredible. When they bought the house they did so through a trust to avoid paying stamp duty. They then used that trust as a guarantee on a loan – they CHOSE to put their home up as a guarantee – and they have failed to repay the loan. They also have a very large house in central London so, er, in the most unparliamentary language fcuk you Mr. O’Donnell, fcuk you.
I think I’m with ya on that!
Imagine if this was you and your children’s house you total asshole. The fact these folks are well off in no way automatically uninvalidates their property rights
Their being bankrupt and their using their house as collateral does.
Not necessarily Kieran. They may well have legal right to reside there as LCD pointed out if they can show that right was lawfully obtained. This case is intriguing as he showed that you can do a lot of things to frustrate repossession if you stay one step ahead of your creditors. I’m not necessarily arguing what he’s doing is “right” but I am certain he has a fair few tricks up his sleeve
What are they being blamed for besides not paying their debts?
Legally nothing. But then there’s the arrogance and stupidity.
Of course, this is further to the scapegoat comment.
Could be argued that if they played honest and accepted their fate – i.e. no quibbling, no obstructing, just hand over all assets to enable the bank to recover the 70-odd million that they owe – then the average Joe with a variable rate mortgage with Bank of Ireland mightn’t have been subjected to at least one of the unjustified interest rate increases over recent years.
Sure thing. Wow, what an insight
Nothing suspicious abotu the order having been removed. The news on RTÉ at nine last night showed video of the eviction order being removed by the fella from the New Land League who, it was reported, then brought in to be read by Peter O’Donnell.
Brian O’Donnell
How about we just stop commenting and posting “news” about this rubbish?
yeah, this is getting boring now.
These poor people, if only they’d saved / stashed away some of the 900 million they borrowed !
Maybe he’s in there pulling up the floor boards in the jacks hoping to find bundles of cash ?
and the idiot poor people are helping out like they’re all the same

There’s a mansion on the hill
Psychedelic music fills the air
Peace and love live there still
In that mansion on the hill.

No.
No thanks. That game frightened me more than my last cholesterol reading.
Ah, Broadsheet. Let’s not, eh?
poor fella only has a secret swiss bank account and millionaire mates to fall back on now!
I alwys doubt the millionaire mates thing. They didn’t get rich helping people out.
I’m looking forward to “Goodbye to the Hill”
First up, there’ll be “Hamburger Hill” tomorrow when the sheriff and Gardai arrive. They’ll attempt a few more volleys down at the Four Courts first, but they’ll be out of there by start of next week.
Is there a Helipad
A bitta Black Hawk Down would be mighty
Or maybe a private jetty?
Like tis definatly the day, weather wise, for a David Beckam doing James Bond type Über Speed boat rescue
In Ireland it’s all about how well you play the law. It’s nothing to do with moral fibre or any sense of a collective responsibility to live in consideration of others.
They’re playing it very badly. Really VERY badly.
Considering yer man was an ace lawyer.
Sure. I’m sure he hasn’t a clue what he’s doing
He isn’t doing it very well then.
