U2 play tribute at funeral of radio DJ Tony Fenton (Irish Times)
Via Newstalk
Meanwhile…
Tony Fenton was a great Radio DJ and well known to the over 35 audience of RTE and to ignore his passing on the Late Late show was shameful.

@rte well done RTE yet again for not doing what your licence payers want and not mentioning the radio legend Tony Fenton on the latelateshow

That’s because (IMHO) if you let down RTE by leaving for a rival station you are dead to them. Until you come back on a higher salary with your wife and whole team and are given a daily 3pm radio slot and a primetime Saturday night TV chat show.
RTÉ did an obit piece on Tony Fenton on the news on Friday.
This smacks of Niall and Jonathan using the death to promote themselves.
Yep and mentioned again today on the News at One
I AM OUTRAGED
It is sad to hear of the mans passing but he played records.
A nice man passed away. Very sad. Ryan Tubridy reading out 30 seconds of empty rhetoric about him wouldn’t have mattered.
Exactly and it saved me from having to buy a new telly as if I seen Tubridys smug egotistical head feigning sympathy and try to be emphatic, I would have put my foot through it.
+1
So a mention on the LLS is some sort of yardstick for mentioning our broadcasting dead? This is tarnishing the great man’s memory. Drop it now.
A death-notices segment might actually lighten the whole thing up.
Lol!
Unrelated but I love your avatar photo.
“WIRE HANGERS! WHHHYYYYY-EEERRRR-HAAAANNG-EEEERRSS!”
Why?! Christina, get out of that bed! GET OUT OF THAT BED!
Good work BS

I think that’s Larry Gogan.
Very nice tribute at Marconi house. Well done them.
