The Hesselberg Library

died-1 died-3 died-2

A contribution to the biannual Sculpture By The Sea festival at Arhaus in Denmark by Swedish artist Susanna Hesselberg.

Entitled “When My Father Died It Was Like a Whole Library Had Burned Down,” the plummeting bookshelves are an allusion to the feeling of loss felt by the artist at the loss of her father.

    That’s really poignant.
The title is OTT, but it’s very direct and I like it. A lot of people dismiss contemporary art as junk, with the boring old “sure I could’ve done that” because they don’t immediately understand what they’re looking at.
