Broadsheet Trailer Park: Deadpool

What you may need to know:

1. An experimental procedure cures Wade Wilson’s (Ryan Reynolds) cancer and gives him accelerated healing powers and stuff. Comic book logic.

2. There’s a red band version with slightly more cussing, but the jokes are just as forced.

3. Reynolds appeared as Deadpool in 2009’s poorly received X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Everyone hated it. Including Reynolds.

4. This project has been in various stages of development hell since 2007. Shelved in 2013, it was finally greenlit following the positive reaction to test footage leaked last year.

5. Those Stan Lee cameos are really getting old.

6. Broadsheet prognosis: Not feeling it.

Release Date: February 5, 2016.

Rather than using all that make up at the end why didn’t they just get Nick Nolte to stand in? TJ Miller’s good though. This doesn’t appear to be, however.

I actually think it captures the idea of Deadpool fairly well.

He’s an anti-hero with serious mental issues that results in him breaking the 4th wall a lot. He’s a goof.

The fact that this is even R/18+ rated means that it’s probably only going to appeal to the general fans of the series.

    My 2c

  3. The People's Hero

    Wade Wilson – Deadpool…. (Marvel 1991)

    Slade Wilson – Deathstroke….. (DC 1980)

    Also, Green Lantern…..

    Tiresome…..

meh. got to be better than fuppin Antman. I think Deadpool’s messed-up-edness will make for an engaging character.

Ugh, everyone likes it? I guess we’ll hold off on posting it for 2 days so we can tell everyone we’re not feeling it. Future ‘I told you so’ moment or ‘wow, hey everyone wasn’t that cool….. That old post? Oh, nothing’

      Ha! Yes.

I’ve not seen a more positive reaction to a trailer in a long time. And why not just post the red band version?

So, a bit of humour… OK, I liked Ant-Man for the fact it doesn’t take itself seriously (unlike the Avengers / X-Men series), and for that I’ll give this one a spin. I think I can look past the fact it’s Ryan in a mask easy enough :)
