You might argue that they should be above that – and to an extent I agree with that – but nobody thanks you for being brave especially at the ballot box.

The referendum in May was divisive. They went ahead with it despite it being a risk, and knowing what their core voters are like. It was an enormous success for them both at home and internationally. The support for abortion is there, and though it would be a risk, the payoff could be great, particularly now with an election looming. I’m no FG supporter but I think that the government need to do something to address the problem and they need to do it soon. Like it or not, whatever your feeling on abortion, the lack of action continues to impact on women’s health.
